Asus ROG Phone 2 ‘Gaming Phone’ To Be Launched on July 23rd 2019

The gaming phone segment is increasingly seeing a lot of activity from several smartphone manufacturers. In 2019 so far, we have seen BlackShark and Nubia release their gaming smartphones on a global scale. And now, Asus is coming up with its successor to its last year’s ROG Phone.

Asus ROG Phone 2 Gaming Phone To Be Launched on July 23rd 2019

Already confirmed to be called the ROG Phone 2, the smartphone has now got a launch date finally. The device will be launching in China on July 23 in collaboration with Tencent Games – the publisher responsible for games like PUBG MOBILE and Call of Duty Mobile.

Asus has so far released invites to the launch event in China. While the invite doesn’t reveal anything about the smartphone, Asus in a Weibo post earlier in the year suggested that it is bringing a 120Hz display to the ROG Phone 2. Thus, the ROG Phone 2 will be the third phone in the world to feature a 120Hz screen after the two Razer phones.

The phone will be launched in collaboration with Tencent Games for one of its upcoming games which will support faster refresh rates of 120Hz. The gaming smartphone market has seen some crazy phones lately. Nubia launched its Red Magic 3 a few weeks ago in India and it offered a unique feature that no other smartphone has managed to offer so far – fan-based cooling system with real vents like a gaming laptop.

The phone also features a 6.65-inch 90Hz OLED display along with stereo speakers and a massive 5000mAh battery with 27W fast charging. Despite having all these range-topping features, the Red Magic 3 starts from Rs 35,999 in India.

The ROG Phone launched at a higher premium than nay gaming launched in India. Asus may be launching this phone at a similar price range along with several special accessories such as a gamepad, case, ports and others.

As with all gaming smartphones this year, the ROG Phone 2 is expected to come with a Snapdragon 855 chipset and could feature up to 12GB RAM. For cameras, it could borrow the dual camera setup from the Asus 6z, avoiding the Flip Camera module. Additionally, the phone could feature a bigger 5000mAh battery.
